43 schools, where the children with disabilities will be able to study together with healthy children will be opened in Moldova within the project “Educational inclusion of children with disabilities in Moldova”. Lucia Gavrilita, the head of the day Center for social integration of the children with disabilities “Speranta”, communicated for Info-Prim Neo that the project will be implemented for a period of 5 years and aims to create a model of inclusive school. According to her, 43 schools will be adapted to ease the inclusion of children with disabilities into society. As well, Gavrilita said that adapted WCs and other facilities will be constructed. According to the same source it is planned to include 10 children in each school. At the beginning, will be used the schools that implement the program “Pas cu Pas” (Step by Step), because they are more opened and prepared to accept a new concept, after which a contest for selecting other schools will be announced. Officially the project “Educational inclusion of children with disabilities in the Republic of Moldova” was launched on Wednesday, June 21, in Chisinau. The representatives of the Government, education departments and NGOs which promote this issue participated at the event. The project will be implemented together with the Minister of Education and Youth, with the financial support of DFID – Great Britain.
