The presidential election and the constitutional referendum of October 20 will be monitored by at least 1,400 observers. Most of these – about 1,150 – are national observers and the others are international observers, IPN reports.

The Central Election Commission warns that the accreditation of observers can still be requested until October 13 at the latest. Steps in this regard can be taken by public associations, training and research institutions in the electoral field of the Republic of Moldova, foreign electoral authorities, international organizations, governments of foreign states, foreign nongovernmental organizations, as well as international experts in the electoral field.

Under the Electoral Code, the observers can represent domestic, foreign or international organizations or institutions. They fulfill the mission of observing the way elections are organized and conducted.
