After a period of restoration, the “Assumption of Our Lady” Church in Causeni, which is part of the National Art Museum of Moldova, will be reopened to visitors, IPN reports.
The Ministry of Culture said the restoration of this unique church of Moldova, whose interior walls are covered by frescoes painted by Wallachian painters in 1763, is an enormous contribution of the American people to the valorization of the national cultural heritage of the Republic of Moldova.
The U.S. Embassy in Moldova provided a total budget of over US$1 million through the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation to restore the church.
The last amount of US$ 324,000, allocated by the Government of the Republic of Moldova for this architectural monument of national importance, was intended for infrastructure and landscaping works.
