Association of Professional Translators celebrates 15 years of work

The Association of Professional Translators has celebrated its 15th anniversary. On this occasion, the association launched a new website – www.translators.md, which provides detailed information about its members and the performed activities. The anniversary was marked two days before the International Translation Day (September 30). The Association’s president and founder Eleonora Rusnac has told IPN that after 15 years the Association has professional translators who are appreciated by the international organizations working in Moldova, NGOs, nonprofit organizations and enterprises.

Eleonora Rusnac said one of the greatest accomplishments of the Association is the image that it built over years. “I think the Association already has a name on the market. We have a lot of translation orders,” she stated. Another accomplishment is the establishment of the Translator’s School that runs foreign language courses. The Association cooperates with the OSCE, the Council of Europe and important organizations.

One of the co-founders of the Association Tamara Burca said the translators’ work is not at all simple, but is interesting.

The Association’s vice director Natalia Conovca said the competition on the translations market is stiff and it is thus important to be a good translator, able to cope in all the areas, from chemistry, medicine, physics to social assistance and so on.

The Association of Professional Translators Moldova was founded in February 1998 and has 40 members who translate into English, French, Spanish, Greece, Turkish, Italian, and Russian.
