Association of Judges asks for balanced assessments of court solutions

The Association of Judges of the Republic of Moldova made a new call to weight public narrative that assesses court solutions so as not to affect the independence, impartiality and authority of courts of law, IPN reports.

The Association reiterates that the solutions of the courts of law, either this are conviction or acquittal decisions, are the exclusive result of the implementation of the law and any contrary speculations are fully inappropriate and should be firmly rejected. “The classing of court solutions as political or the tendentious invoking of the fact that they are based not on the law, but on hidden reasons is completely foreign to the balance that should characterize public narrative about justice and inevitably leads to the unpermitted polarization of society,” says a message on the Association’s Facebook page.

“The court decisions are a pillar of the rule of law, while the recurring tendency to discourage and to publicly challenge them with a view to invalidating the juridical truth they express affects the essence of the rule of law.”

Also, the Association of Judges of the Republic of Moldova called upon the media outlets that disseminate articles assessing court decisions to ensure the right of reply of those involved.
