Association of Culinary Art is accepted as associated member of World Association of Cook’s Societies

The Association of Culinary Art (ACA) in Moldova was accepted in early October as an associated member of the World Association of Cook’s Societies (WACS). Head of the Association, Simion Boran stated on Thursday 26 October at a press conference that at present the Association’s leadership aims to create all the mechanisms of co-operation with the World Association, composing the national team of cooks, national juries and assessment committees. “We will present to the world, through the cooks and confectioners, all that represents us: traditions, culinary art, skills”, said Boran. According to him, in compliance with the requirements of WACS, the association will have to put forth efforts to educate (instruct) qualified specialists and to promote the culinary art. The association was included in the informational system of WACS and will have access to all the news in the field at international level. Moldovan cooks will have also the possibility to participate in all the culinary actions organized by VACS at regional, European and world level. ACA has already received three invitations for the World Cook’s Cup, which will be held in Luxemburg on November 18-22. Three of the best Moldovan cooks are invited to the event to learn about the technologies applied by the cooks of 94 member states of WACS. “Our specialists do not take part, for the moment, in the world competitions, as they do not show the professionalism that would allow them to contest at such a level yet”, Boran mentioned. In 2007, thanks to the professional relations established within the WACS with the north Cook’s Association, the presentations of the Moldovan national cooking will be organized in several North-European countries. The Government, Agro-Industrial Agency “Moldova-Vin” will be invited to organize the presentations of traditional wines, as they are indispensable to the Moldovan cooking, says Boran. Besides, the association’s members will gain professional experience that would allow them to participate in 2007 in the World Championship of Slovenia “World Master Chef”. For 2008, Moldovan cooks intend to participate in the World Culinary Olympics, which is held each 4 years. The success of the Youth Cooking Festival, which took place in the period during October 11-12, 2006 essentially contributed to the acceptance of ACA in WACS. The event included the organization of the Championship of Young Cooks and Confectioners, private exhibitions of the well-known specialists, equipment exhibitions, and specialized inventory for the enterprises of the public nourishment, presentation of professional cloths of the workers in the public nourishment. At the Festival, the title of “Master of Cooking” was conferred for the first time to four Moldovan specialists. The event’s aim was to attract young specialists in actions intended to contribute to the improvement of the professional prestige, to development of the traditions of national cooking. The Festival’s winners received medals and money awards. Association of Culinary Art has been performing its activity for more than one year and it is the single of this type in Moldova.
