The public association “Moldova Mea” produced a letter addressed to the Russian President Vladimir Putin, asking providing autonomy to the Moldovans who want to work and live in Russia. The association’s leader Fiodor Ghelici said the Moldovans who are in Russia in a large number deserve own autonomy in this country. The statement was made in a news conference at IPN.

Fiodor Ghelici told the journalists that he recently returned from a trip from Russia and was impressed by the large number of Moldovans there. “At the border between Ukraine and Russia, I saw that the number of vehicles with Moldovan license numbers waiting to cross the border was much higher than of cars from other countries. When I entered Russia, I also saw many cars with Moldovan license numbers,” he stated.

The association makes a call to Vladimir Putin in the name of all the Moldovans from Russia. “They should give the Moldovans a deserted village in an isolated area and will see how that settlement will flourish. The Moldovans are contented that Russia enables them to earn their living. Whole families go to live there,” said Fiodor Ghelici.

According to him, the Russians are mainly satisfied with the work done by the Moldovans and respect them. However, Ghelici expressed his regret at the fact that the Moldovans have to go abroad to earn money. “I saw packed cars leavening Moldova. The people run away as if it is war or a natural disaster. Our authorities can make us aggressive towards Russia or Romania, but I saw that the Moldovans in these countries are not treated badly,” he said.

Fiodor Ghelici recommended the politicians to more often discuss with the ordinary people so as to know better their problems. He said that the people are tired of the current rulers and promise to have a say in the next parliamentary elections.
