The public association “For Family” is launching the anti-abortion campaign “Right to life of the unborn child” within which it will inform the men and women of all ages about the physical, emotional and spiritual consequences of abortion. The announcement was made in a news conference at IPN.
“We want to persuade all those who will take part in this campaign to take a decision for themselves not to resort to this practice and not to approve of or support abortion because only the women are often blamed, but the men or the families that force them to take such a step bear a much greater blame,” said the association’s leader Vasile Filat.
According to him, the association “For Family” will train persons who will lead teams to every district of the country. At the end of the campaign, there will be unveiled a copy of the Memorial for Unborn Children built up in Slovakia. The association is now holding negotiations with the author to get his permission.
The association’s jurist Irina Batir said that abortion is very dangerous given the demographic decline in Moldova – 160,000 dead people versus 156,000 newborns in 2010-2013. In the same period, there were officially recorded over 60,000 abortions. “According to doctors, as not all the abortions are recorded and many are induced by medications, this figure should be multiplied by 3 or 4,” she stated.
She said it’s worrisome that 11% of the abortions involve girls aged between 15 and 19. Thus, the association’s campaign contributes to the achievement of a declared goal of the national strategic program on demographic security for 2011-2025, which envisions reducing the number of abortions among teenage girls.
The project will have a budget of about 250,000 lei and will be financed exclusively with donations.
