The political and economic chapters of the Association Agreement with the European Union, significance of the commitments undertaken by Moldova and challenges that can hamper their fulfillment are explained in a handbook that was presented in Chisinau on November 28. The book was compiled by experts of two independent think tanks - CEPS of Brussels and Expert-Grup of Chisinau, IPN reports.

Denis Cenusa, associate expert of Expert-Grup, said the guidebook is designed to facilitate the understanding of each chapter as regards the nature of the commitments assumed by the sides and the prospects of implementing these. The book is a unique reference source for fully and accessibly realizing the political, economic and cooperation principles that derive from the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement.

The book authors said the political principles, rule of law and foreign policy must ensure the most important political objective – the respect for the European values, human rights and preeminence of the law. The non-observance of these will irreversibly compromise the accord. At economic level, the adoption of the EU technical standards for industrial and agri-food products is vital for ensuring the competitiveness of Moldovan industry on the common European market and at international level.

Denis Cenusa also said that the publication is intended for professional readers such as officials, MPs, diplomats, jurists and journalists. It is available in Romanian, Russian and English and will also become available in digital format. It will be accompanied by a guide that will facilitate its use.

The handbook “Developing the EU – Moldova Relations: What? Why? How?” forms part of the project “Understanding of the Association Agreement and the DCFTA between the EU and Ukraine, Georgia and the Republic of Moldova”.
