The Association Agreement between Moldova and the European Union, which was initialed at the Eastern Partnership Summit on November 29, has been published on the Government’s official website www.gov.md, for the time being in English only, IPN reports.

The accord takes the cooperation between Moldova and the EU to a new stage – of political association and economic integration. The document has 972 pages and includes a preamble and seven titles that refer to the general principles, political cooperation and the security and foreign affairs policy, freedom of justice, sector and economic cooperation, trade and the trade-related issues (DCFTA), financial cooperation, including the anti-fraud provisions, and the institutional, general and final provisions. The agreement also contains annexes that stipulate the EU legislation that should be met by a certain date, and four protocols.

The initialing of the Association Agreement marks the completion of the negotiations on the accord with the EU, which were opened in January 2010.
