Association Agreement remained at formal level and without practical accomplishments, experts

The Association Agreement with the European Union remained at a formal level and without practical accomplishments after its signing. The political class was preoccupied more with disputes related to the investing of the Government, while society was taken aback by the banking frauds. The economic diplomatic service of Moldova beats time, while the country’s economic interests continue to suffer. The conclusions are contained in two studies conducted by experts Ion Tabarta and Valentin Lozovanu, which were launched by the Institute for Development and Social Initiative “Viitorul”, IPN reports.

“Both the European partners and civil society are waiting for viable reforms from the Government of Moldova, which would democratize Moldovan society. After the signing of the Association Agreement, the Moldovan authorities had the courage to rob the banking sector, affecting enormously the economic security of the Republic of Moldova,” explained Ion Tabarta.

Valentin Lozovanu said the existent foreign policy conception is outdated. Moldova remains without a foreign policy that would center on the active promotion of the economic interests abroad.

According to the experts, it would be ideal for the government of Moldova to be sincerely disposed to democratize Moldovan society, the implementation of the Association Agreement being the roadmap needed for the purpose. To achieve this major goal, the government needs the support of the EU and the contribution of civil society.
