The members of Civic Association for eliminating the consequences of Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact are considering the possibility of registering the society as a social-political movement. President Iacob Golovca declared on Saturday, during association’s National Council, that this would allow the organization to participate in elections and thus to achieve its goals easier. Iacob Golovca said that since the beginning, the association tried to unite the lands on each side of the Prut River into one. Should they become a political faction, they would bring this problem in the spotlight. According to Iacob Golovca, during our country’s history, there were many leaders who assumed undeserved merits. “Each time somebody comes and says something, we deify him. Leonida Lari, Mircea Druc, Ilie Ilascu… where are these people? The satisfied their interests and disappeared. You mustn’t brag about others’ deeds, but about your daily work”, the president of the Association against Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact said. Iacob Golovca, doctor of History, added that people must realize that if Moldova joined EU as a separate state, it would mean the recognition of the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact, which had been previously denounced by the Moldovan Parliament. “They lied when giving us the Bridge of Flowers, new citizenships and now the EU visa regime liberalization. We don’t need all this, we could be one big country. In a Greater Romania we’d have more to gain”, he stressed. In order to be registered as a social-political movement, the association must gather 5,000 signatures. However, the society has only 1,000 members and will have to find enough signatures among the supporters. During the National Council, the organization chose a new secretary- Iacob Hamuraru.
