Over 200 single parent families from the Transnistrian region have already benefited from free psycho-social, legal and medical assistance due to a partnership between two non-governmental organizations from both banks of the Nistru River. This partnership has become possible as a result of the assistance provided within the EU-UNDP “Support to Confidence Building Measures” Program, IPN reports, quoting a press release from the UNDP Moldova.

Aliona Marchkova, president of the Legal Information Center “Apriori”, during a round table held in Tiraspol, said that most often, people come to the Center hoping to find solutions to their problems related to divorces, payment of social allowances, employment. They also seek legal advice in order to learn more about single mothers’ rights, property rights, and child protection.

“The success of the Confidence Building Projects supported by the EU and UNDP owes to the fact that all activities are identified and implemented by actors from both banks in close cooperation,” said Victor Dragutan, Project Manager within the EU-UNDP “Support to Confidence Building Measures” Program.

“Apriori” is one of the 22 nongovernmental organizations on the left bank of the Nistru River which benefit from the support of the EU-UNDP Program in establishing partnerships with similar organizations from the right bank to jointly help the most vulnerable people.

The program is implemented during 2012-2015, with a total budget of €10,600,000 Euro, granted by the EU and UNDP.
