Assets of nonbank lending sector up 15.74% in 2021

The nonbank lending organizations and the savings and loan associations that are authorized and regulated by the National Commission for Financial Markets provided loans to the value of about 12.44 billion lei in 2021. Of these, 11.35 billion lei were offered by nonbank lending organizations, while 1.09 billion lei by savings and loan associations. Compared with 2020, the loan portfolio was by 1.87 billion lei or 17.69% higher, IPN reports.

In a press release, the Commission said the total assets of the nonbank lending sector continued the upward trend in the course of last year, rising to 13.56 billion lei, up 15.74%.

On January 1, 2022, the Register of Authorized Nonbank Lending Organizations included 143 companies that could perform nonbank lending activities. On the same date, licenses for professional activity were owned by 226 savings and loan associations.

The beneficiaries of nonbank loans totaled 464,000. The average value of a loan was 26,770 lei.

The own capital of the sector came to 4.73 billion lei, an increase of about 1 billion lei compared with 2020.
