The Public Services Agency said it was able to save about 350 million lei after holding a repeated tender to buy ID blanks. As a result, the ASP expects that a passport will become by 200 lei cheaper.
The winning bidder is the company Polska Wytwornia Papierow Wartosciowych, controlled by the Polish Treasury. Bidders from nine countries participated in the tender. A second winner, the French company SELP, will deliver another lot of blanks under a contract to be signed next week.
The original tender initiated in April 2021 by the former management of the Agency was canceled following an inspection carried out by a task force established by the Moldovan prime minister.
