Asif Chaudhry: Moldova needs to open up its skies
Moldova needs to open up its skies and privatize air travel through investment so that fares can become cheaper, thinks U.S. Ambassador to Moldova Asif Chaudhry, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“While we have the technologies that we can use to overcome distances, there is one thing that the Republic of Moldova can do. You can reduce the distances by reducing obstacles to traveling to Moldova. Presently it is expensive to come (to Moldova) because there is no competition”, said Ambassador Chaudhry in an interview with Radio Moldova.
Asif Chaudhry said the issue affected him personally as well as his family. “I would love to see more airlines coming to the Republic of Moldova, fares going down, so that even after I'm gone I can afford to visit you as frequently as I want. Truthfully, for my family, my wife and I, Moldova became part of our hearts, and we'd want to come back. So let's find a way to shrink those distances”, said a smiling Ambassador Chaudhry.
