The Agency of Medicines and Medical Devices halted the distribution and delivery of the Ascorbic Acid Injection 5% solution, 2 ml, No.10, which is produced by the Moldovan pharmaceutical company “Farmaco”. The producer was ordered to immediately withdraw the medicine from drugstore and to keep it in quarantine, IPN reports.
Under an order made by the Agency on August 13, the withdrawal from drugstores of this preparation was ordered after performing laboratory analyses. The producer is obliged to destroy the medicines of this series and to inform the Agency about this act by August 19.
Vitamin C is recommended for the prophylaxis and treatment of scurvy and other forms of hypovitamonsis C, prolonged febrile states, infections, parodontosis, gingivitis, stomatitis, osteoporosis, fractures, capillary hemorrhage, and certain forms of anemia. The ascorbic acid also helps in cases of tiredness, prolonged physical effort, and spring asthenia.
