Moldovan international Artur Ionita will play in Seria A next season. The 23-year-old penned a 3 year contract with Hellas Verona, currently sitting 6th in the Italian league.

“It's a great step forward. I realize where I will be playing and this motivates me a lot. I know the beginning will be hard, but I'm ready for a new challenge in my career”, the midfielder told IPN. Ionita will finish the season with Aarau, where has developed into a leader over the last years. He has been playing in Switzerland for 5 years and scored 13 goals.

Ionita was wanted by 2 other Swiss teams, but he preferred to move to Italy, where he will be the first Moldovan to ply his trade in Serie A. The central midfielder is youth product of Zimbru and was first coached by Veaceslav Carandasov. Last year, he was voted the third best Moldovan footballer, behind Gatcan and Epureanu.
