Artur Croitor calls on voters to damage ballots

Ex-applicant for the office of President Artur Croitor, who heads the Movement “Civic Initiative”, calls on the people to vote in the October 30 presidential elections, but to spoil the ballot so that this is declared invalid. According to him, this way they will secure runoff elections and these will offer civil society the chance of communicating more intensely with the two candidates who will remain in the competition.

In a news conference at IPN, Artur Croitor said many people contacted him and told him that they don’t know who to vote for because they do not see a suitable candidate. The boycotting of elections is a right of everyone, but in such a case the votes could be misused. If the electors do not have who to vote for, they should go to the polls, but should spoil the ballot by voting for all the candidates or in another way that is not allowed.

The ex-applicant for the office of President noted that if the runoff elections are held, the people will have more opportunities of communicating directly with the two candidates who will remain in the race because these will be interested in convincing the electors to give their votes to them. In such conditions, civil society will be able to impose conditions that the candidates will have to fulfill when one of them is elected as President. Among these conditions should be the institution of civil society control over reform processes and confiscation of property obtained unjustly, possessions of state traitors, etc.

Artur Croitor welcomed the withdrawal of Marian Lupu from the presidential race and called on the candidates of the government to follow his example. According to him, Maia Sandu and Igor Dodon have the biggest chances of winning the elections, but the two accuse each other and this situation suits the government. He considers the government already prepared the machinery for rigging the elections, either in favor of a candidate or another, but the people will yet see who of the two will be tempted. Croitor urged the two candidates to remain upright and to give up mutual calumnious attacks.

Artur Croitor called on the people to report possible frauds in elections through info@croitor.md or to make them public on the Facebook page of the Civic Initiative Center.
