Artists in Moldova manifest solidarity with world’s antiglobalists

Artists in Moldova have shown support for the antiglobalist protests that took place during the G8 summit, currently taking place in Heiligendamm, Germany. The protest of local artists took shape in an exhibition themed “Resistance Tactics x Global Police”, hosted by the “Constantin Brancusi” Exhibition Centre in Chisinau, from June 6 to 10. Vladimir Us, the Head of the Moldova Young Artists Association “Oberliht”, declared that the protests are not manifestations against the G8 summit of today’s most industrialised countries, but in order to present an antiglobalist personalised message, which should be further considered by the G8 powers. The exhibition presents diverse tactics of resistance to globalisation, which according to Us, “will produce a standardisation of core values”. Part component of the exhibition are documents and films which represent the development of previous G8 summits, as well as 10 posters created by artists from different countries. Therefore “Resistance tactics x Global Police” does not solely have a political tone, but is also an “artistic project”, concludes Us. The International Association “Hyde Park”, co-organiser of the exhibition, will also conduct debates in Chisinau’s “Stefan cel Mare” Park. The exhibition will have as its guest the controversial Romanian artist, Sorin Tara, who was not allowed to exhibit certain works due to his politicised message.
