Artist Stefan Petrache addresses open letter to authorities

People’s artist Stefan Petrache addressed an open letter to the authorities, accusing judges and prosecutors of acting in collusion with a former business partner of his, who dispossessed him and his sister-in-law of apartments, IPN reports.

In his letter to the Supreme Council of Magistrates, the Supreme Court of Justice, the Ministry of Justice, Parliament, the Presidential Office and the Prosecutor General’s Office, the artist calls on the authorities to investigate the illegalities committed by the judges and prosecutors who examined the civil and criminal cases that involved him. “In fact, as a result of the collusion between my former business partner and judges, and with the involvement of prosecutors, there were passed and upheld two evidently illegal court decisions aimed at dispossessing me of my property based on an alleged debt of €73,000,” Stefan Petrache says in the letter.

According to the artist, he and a friend of his created together the construction company Bis-Engineering SRL, whose founder and associate he was in the period between November 25, 1997 and March 7, 2008. Afterward, he donated his social part to his partner. He agreed with his business partner that the latter will purchase two apartments, for him and for his sister-in-law, at the cost price, in an apartment building under construction located at 18/5 Cuza Voda St. That building was being erected by Bis-Engineering SRL. The sums paid for the two apartments were €50,000 and €25,000 respectively, the negotiated value being paid fully.

Later, the artist’s sister-in-law decided to sell the purchased apartment to a client, asking €73,000 for it. Stefan Petrache accuses his business partner of selling this apartment to another person, before the sale-purchase procedure with the first client had been finished.

His business partner took the money for the apartment from the client who later remained without money and without apartment as well, but the court ordered that this sum be paid by the artist to the client. When the construction of the apartment building was completed, Stefan Petrache found out that his apartment was sold to another person.

“All my requests to solve this problem ended with no result. Even if the real circumstances show that the director of SRL Bis Engineering illegally sells the same apartments to different persons, the prosecutor who dealt with my complaint didn’t want to thoroughly examine this case. But I was dispossessed of over 800,000 le. I remained both without apartment and without money,” stated Stefan Petrache.

The artist voiced hope that the competent public authorities will fulfill their duty to protect and guarantee the fundamental rights of the people and will take measures to punish those who break the law.
