ARTICO center offers free lessons to children and youth
Children as young as 5 and young people up to 32 years old are invited to join the ARTICO National Center's arts, dance and sports classes.
The center opened for all those willing on Saturday. The Center's spokeperson Stefan Grigorita told Info-Prim Neo that the classes will be formed of at least 20 persons.
The children and youth can study classic, hall, modern, folk, Flamenco dances, ballet and others at ARTICO. Those willing to learn music can come to the folk, coral, street or jazz music classes. The ARTICO Center also offers classes for ethnography, folk and theater. Imitative arts and crafts, clothes’ design, tapestry and decorative painting classes will also be available. Some other options are macramé, crocheting and artistic development through play-do, paper, gesso and clay. The Center also features a martial arts’ program.
The ARTICO National Center for Youth and Children is an institution of the Ministry of Education which is financed by the state budget. Thus, tuition is supposed to be free. Even though both the representatives of the Center and of the Ministry of Education say that all the classes are free, several posters advertising classes with fees at ARTICO appeared throughout Chisinau. The Ministry of Education said that these posters might pose a challenge. There have previously been detected cases of illegal money-collecting. The Center's previous director Aurelia Hincu was fired because of some financial irregularities.
According to the latest data, over 4,000 children and youth are enlisted in 70 of the center’s programs.
