Students of art schools from Moldova will participate next Saturday, April 6, in a charitable competition. The Spring Vernissage, now at its four edition, is organized by the Regina Pacis Foundation and under the aegis for the Ministry of Education and the Italian Embassy in Chisinau.
The Foundation said in a press release that this year’s theme will be Leonardo da Vinci’s work, and the competitors will have four hours to put their ideas on canvas using their preferred techniques. The winners will be then selected by a specialized jury. The event will conclude with an instrumental and acapella performance by students from the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts.
Italian Ambassador to Chisinau Valeria Biagiotti said the diplomatic mission constantly supports initiatives aimed at promoting culture and arts. The event is dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci as a tribute to his 500th death anniversary. “I hope that this will be a beautiful and unforgettable experience for these talented children participating in the contest. The Embassy, for its part, will offer a prize to one of the winners”, said Valeria Biagiotti.
The event aims to discover young talents, but also to raise funds for the work of the Child Placement Center, a Regina Pacis Foundation subdivision providing temporary protection to children deprived of parental care or at risk.
The paintings made during the event will be exhibited in art galleries in Moldova and Italy, and the proceeds will be used to support children in difficulty.
