Nistru war veteran Arslan Safarmatov said the prosecutor general lied when he said that the case in which is he featured, which was classed by the PACE as a political one and started by order, was remitted for revision. Also, according to Safarmatov, the prosecutor lied on October 26 when he said that his case is to be reviewed. The veteran noted that in fact the prosecutor in charge of the case was against the revision and he is now on the outside only due to his own efforts as a result of which his remand detention was replaced with community service.
In a news conference at IPN, Arslan Safarmatov said that regrettably, the famous justice sector reforms praised by Igor Dodon, Ion Chicu before the European officials haven’t been implemented and these are just lies. A hearing in his case was held at the Supreme Court of Justice yesterday. “Unfortunately, the representative of the Prosecutor’s Office was against the revision of the case. I understood that one hand washes the other and the court helps the colleagues,” stated Arslan Safarmatov.
The veteran also said that the case in which he is investigated was classed by the PACE as political, started by order of Vlad Plahotniuc” (former leader of the PDM). The PGO admitted this, but did nothing to free him from detention. He is not in jail because he acted himself and his remand detention was replaced with community service, which he did. The justice in Moldova depends only on money, while the President, the Premier, the prosecution service, as well as the judiciary system, are corrupt and each citizen should draw conclusions.
In the same news conference, the head of the Movement of Transnistrian Refugees Anatolie Bîzgu said that in 2015, after the bank fraud, most of the citizens, including war veterans, expressed their indignation, at different protests, with the fact that the persons to blame are not held accountable. Later, a number of civic activists, including Arslan Safarmatov, had criminal cases started against them. Safarmatov was accused of hooliganism and the ordinary court gave him a three-year suspended sentence, but the appeals court gave him a jail term. His comrade is now on the outside, but not because of the prosecutor general, who either intentionally misinforms all the citizens, saying that work is done on those cases, or some of the prosecutors furnish him with erroneous information so as to mislead public opinion.
