The movie “Arrivederci” by the Moldovan director Valeriu Jereghi is included in the competition of the 63rd Salerno International Film Festival, in Italy, and will be screened on November 26 at the Augusteo Cinema, Info-Prim Neo reports.
After the movie was presented at the Erasmus EuroMedia Awards by the Russian company Rossia, it will be presented in Salerno by the Italian company Francesco Gagliardi Production.
Asked to comment on this curiosity, the director regretted the fact that other countries, unlike Moldova, yield advantages from promoting this film as a European movie, filmed in Moldova by a Moldovan director. “The Moldovan officials refused to participate in this project, because, according to them, this film taints the reputation of the country”, says Jereghi.
He went on to add that, while Arrivederci didn't get any attention from the authorities, millions were spent on “creating a positive image of Moldova” through unpopular films, or on some “whims of certain filmmakers”.
The director laments the fact that, in the “deplorable situation faced by the Moldovan film industry” and in the absence of movies that could be presented at international festivals, the authorities, the Ministry of Culture, are reluctant to promote a Moldova branded film that earned a number of awards and international acclaim. The authorities, says the director, could organize the screening of this movie across the country as well as abroad, given its “relevance and quality” attested by international organizations like the European Parliament, where it was already screened.
The 63rd Salerno Film Festival will take place during November 23-28 and will feature 160 films in 9 categories – movies, shorts, documentaries, television, etc.
