The arrest of the head of Dubasari district Grigore Polichinski is a game staged by the government, while the criminal case started against the local elected official was fabricated by political order. Such opinions were stated in the program “Expertise hour” on Jurnal TV channel, IPN reports.
Ex-MP Alexandr Petkov said Grigore Polichinski’s arrest is a game of the government and is the first consequence of the change in the electoral system. “The authorities pave the way for gaining control of electoral districts. It is already clear that Dubasari district will be a separate constituency even if only 35,000 people live there. The game is so cynical and criminal because Dubasari district is the only one that is situated on both banks of the Nistru and is strategic from the perspective of the national interest,” stated Alexandr Petkov.
Transparency International Moldova expert Ianina Spinei said the arrest forms part of a well-planned stratagem of the Democratic Party (PDM). “Given the multiple Court of Auditors’ decisions about irregularities in the use of public property and funds committed by different local public authorities of the second level, it is not clear why such selectivity is applied to local elected officials who do not form part of the Democratic Party. Do we have cases started against representativeness of the PDM? It seems to me that we do not. That’s why we can say with certitude that it is a political game,” said Ianina Spinei.
Socialist MP Grigore Novac said the case started against the head of Dubasari district was fabricated by political order. “In the recent past, he was pressed politically to join the PDM. This is well known and if we ask each councilor of Dubasari district, they will confirm this, except for those from the PDM,” stated Grigore Novac.
Former MP Stela Jantuan said the Republic of Moldova turned into a very large theater stage and the citizens have taken part in this play since 2014, but this has nothing to do with Moldova’s national interest. A struggle for people from district and villages started after the law on the introduction of the mixed electoral system was adopted.
The head of Dubasari district Grigore Polichinski was arrested at the Chisinau International Airport when he was returning from a vacation from Turkey. The functionary is accused of abuse of power, causing of considerable damage to the public interests and abuse of power with serious consequences.
