1,360 soldiers are to be recruited in the Moldovan Army this fall, as other 750 recruits will go for the border guards, and 820 – for carabineers. 25 military will serve reduced terms, as well as 50 border guards, Info-Prim Neo reports. The drafting is done according to a plan developed by the Defense Ministry. The financial support for the recruiting services is to be supported by the local authorities, while the Defense Ministry, the Border Guards Service and the Interior Ministry's Carabineers Troops will transport the recruits to their new quarters. In May-June, 2,936 young men were drafted (97.5%) instead of the planned 3,010. Few recruits were sent by Chisinau municipality, the Gagauz Autonomy, the districts of Glodeni, Falesti, Cantemir and Basarabeasca. In November– December 2008, the military drafted a year ago will be set demobilized and recorded as reserves.
