A former National Army officer was sentenced to 30 months' probation and banned from holding certain posts for a period of one year. Additionally, as requested by the prosecution, he was stripped of his military rank of captain.

According to a press release from the Prosecutor General's Office, in 2014 the officer took money and two laptop computers estimated at 23,000 lei from his subordinates by use of deceit. Some of the appropriated assets were recovered from a Chisinau pawnshop and were returned to the owners.

The sentence is appealable in the manner prescribed by the law.
