The MP of the DA Platform of the ACUM Bloc Arina Spătaru, who drafted a bill on the status of Balti municipality, calls on the author of the second bill with the same title, Democratic MP Vladimir Vitiuc, to adjust the bill to the recommendations of the commissions that examined it so that the two bills could be merged and voted in Parliament as soon as possible, IPN reports.
In a press briefing, Arina Spătaru said the first appraisals of the bill on the status of Balti municipality drafted by her were issued at the end of last July. As the Government was replaced, the executive’s appraisal became available only in December. The Premier recommended that the similar bills of July 3 and July 31 should be merged. The bill of July 3 was adjusted to the recommendations and they expect the same steps to be taken by the author of the bill of July 31, 2019.
In another development, the MP informed the residents of Balti that Prime Minister Ion Chicu will visit Balti on February 13 and urged them to ask the Premier why he recommended excluding the provisions that allowed for the augmentation of the percentage quota that returns to the municipal budget from taxes paid by local private individuals and legal entities. On the one hand, the inhabitants of Balti enjoy 5% more of the taxes paid by private individuals, but are deprived of 60 million lei taxes paid by legal entities.
The bill on the status of Balti municipality provides that the municipality will enjoy broader autonomy.
