The architecture offices “IerconiGrup” SRL and “TriarhGrup” SRL, where architects with experience of over 30 years work, sent a letter by which they approach the most acute problems of the city to the mayor general of Chisinau municipality Dorin Chirtoaca and the General Division of Architecture, Urbanism and Land Relations. These suggest efficient solutions, in accordance with the European standards and practices, which could be included in the plan of action for modifying the General Urbanistic Plan of Chisinau municipality, IPN reports.
In a press release, the two companies say that to avoid the sidewalks being of different colors and structure, the practice of allowing the business entities that own the land located next to private houses to pave the portions of public sidewalks as they want should be abandoned and common conceptions for each street or group of streets should be worked out. These conceptions can be put into practice in a centralized way by the Chisinau City Hall, with the support of business entities and private individuals.
The signatories say the works to repair the underground networks leave the streets and sidewalks ‘patched’ and imply great costs. An efficient solution is to gradually switch over to engineering tunnels where the networks can be placed by using modern and durable materials.
To ease traffic, Albisoara St should be extended and prolonged along the Byk River, up to the end of Calea Iesilor St, while the large vehicles, private cars and public units of transport should be excluded from the central part of the city and directed outside the Chisinau or to special areas. The Northern Bus Terminal should be relocated near the Metro Cash&Carry, on the Chisinau – Orhei road. The whole street system should be reviewed so as to adjust the access parameters for enabling persons with disabilities, bicyclists and mothers with children and baby carriages to move freely.
To protect the heritage, the architects suggested identifying a place where to build a mega business center and to free the historical center from this function, leaving only administrative buildings there. Given that the sanitary-ecological situation in the municipality becomes more worrisome for the residents, they propose gradually replacing the open-type garbage platforms with closed-type platforms with containers in the basement and openings on the outside, as in the Romanian town Cluj.
The architects also suggest reconstructing the riverbed of the Byk and transforming the adjoining territory into recreational and pedestrian areas with navigation sectors, etc.
