The sales in retail outlets last month totaled 1.982,2 billion lei, an increase of 4.7% from a month before and of 11.0% compared with April 2009, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the National Bureau of Statistics. Over January-April, the retail outlets sold goods to the value of 7.017,2 billion lei. The municipality of Balti accounted for 60.2% of the total retail sales, the municipality of Balti for 7.5%, the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia for 2.7%, Cahul district for 2.0%, Orhei district for 1.9%, while the districts of Edinet and Ungheni for 1.7% each. The services provided to the population for payment in April came to 1.202,1 million lei, down 2.0% from March and up 12.2% from April 2009. The officially registered units during the first four months of this year provided services to the value of 4.789,9 billion lei.
