[{The April 7 protests that resulted in acts of violence, including clashes between the protesters and the police, human victims and destruction of the buildings of the Parliament and the Presidential Office, constituted the most prominent evens this year and, perhaps, one of the rarest and memorable events in Moldova’s period of independence. Paradoxically, the events were not treated as such by the political class and the society. The survey on the April 7 events initiated by the news agency Info-Prim Neo among leaders of political parties of different orientations and of the civil society aims to diagnose the quality of Moldova’s Independence at its 18th anniversary and of the society in general and to find answers to the question “what should we do next?” This time, the questions are answered by Valentin Crylov, executive secretary of the Party of Socialists of Moldova “Patria-Rodina”.}] [– What did the April 7 events represent for Moldova’s Independence: an occurrence or a phenomenon?] – The April 7 events were neither an occurrence nor a phenomenon as they have been planned and coordinated, including by forces from outside Moldova, which categorically do not recognize three circumstances existing in our country: the Communist government, the neutral constitutional state Moldova and the interstate strategic partnership relations with Russia, which have improved lately. The April 7 events clearly showed that Moldova, as sovereign and independent state, does not yet have enough reserves of strength and resistance. [– Why the violent clashes, acts of vandalism, human victims and other blamable conducts could not be avoided?] – The April 7 events were inevitable because: a) the Liberal Opposition forces are against statehood and are directed from outside; b) the main part of the young generation is easily manipulated by the abovementioned forces; c) the relevant state bodies are unprepared. [– Why the causes of these events weren’t probed and the results weren’t published even five months afterward?] – A similar situation was on November 10, 1989, when the building of the Ministry of the Interior was attacked. Though those events aroused people’s interest, no detailed and truthful information has been published so far. I think the investigations into the April 7 events are hindered by the deep political crisis experienced by Moldova. [– Can you draw an analogy between the April 7 events and some other historical events?] – Undoubtedly, the April 7 events were similar to the events that happened in Belgrade, Tbilisi and Kiev. [– What lessons the independent Moldovan should learn from the April 7 events?] – The educative process in the education institutions of all the levels leaves much to be desired. We must educate patriots. It is extremely necessary to work out civic education programs. The public broadcaster Teleradio-Moldova should be involved in the education process. The law enforcement bodies must meet the contemporary requirements.
