The draft decision concerning the designation of the members of the Central Election Commission (CEC) was withdrawn from the agenda of the June 2 sitting of Parliament. Author of the decision Raisa Apolschii, who heads the parliamentary commission on appointments and immunities, explained that outgoing CEC member Eduard Raduca withdrew his candidacy, IPN reports.
According to Raisa Apolschii, the bill will be included again in the Parliament’s agenda after a new candidate for the post of CEC member is fielded.
Under the bill, the other candidates for CEC member are: Veaceslav Agrigoroae, Rodica Ciubotaru, Vasile Gafton, Sergiu Gurduza, Maxim Lebedinschi, Alina Russu, and Andrei Volentir.
Earlier, Parliament put off the approval of the new composition of the CEC after the Socialist MPs expressed their dissatisfaction with the proportionality and asked that they should be allowed to have one more representative on the Commission.
