Applications for Eurovision 2017 preselection can be submitted by Jan. 18

The applications for the preselection of Eurovision 2017 can be filed by January 18, 5pm. One semifinal will be staged this year, on February 24. Three applications have been submitted so far.

Contacted by IPN, Alina Nani, editor-consultant of “Teleradio-Moldova” Company, said the three applicants are Che-MD, Serj Coston&Serhey Beloff and the band Ion Krasnopolski.

Applications and the songs in digital format can be submitted to the Eurovision 2017 Collection Center located at 64 Hancesti St, TV Moldova 1, from Monday through Friday, between 9am and 5pm, or through the email address eurovision@trm.md , with the song in mp3 or another popular format attached.

Moldova’s representative at Eurovision will be chosen in three stages. The live audition will be held on January 21. The jury will select 14 songs that will compete in the January 24 semifinal. The final will involve eight competitors – four who will gain the largest number of points from the jury and four who will be chosen by the public by televoting. The national final will take place on February 25, 2017.

This year, foreigners are allowed to represent Moldova, on condition that they participate in a duo with a Moldovan.

Moldova has taken part in the Eurovision Song Contest since 2004. The band “Zdob si Zdub” achieved the best result so far - the sixth place. Last year, Moldova’s representative Lidia Isac failed to qualify for the final.
