The applications for the admission of children to the first grade can be submitted by April 27. The parents must attach the copy of the child’s birth certificate to the application.

Tamara Curtescu, of the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport, has told IPN that the law stipulates that the children must go to school from the age of 7. The children aged 6 are admitted only after the school psychologist and a specialized commission determine their emotional, psychological state, with the parents’ consent.

The children go to the school that is near the place where they live. The parents can choose another school, but the children will be accepted there only if the given institution has available places.

Only the children who apply to artistic and sports classes are tested on admission. The given tests will be taken on May 14-31.

As many as 7,300 children were admitted to the first grade in the municipality of Chisinau in 2012.
