Application to institute disciplinary processing against Vladimir Țurcan withdrawn

The president of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” Andrei Năstase withdrew his application to the Superior Council of Magistracy by which he asked to bring disciplinary proceedings against Constitutional Court judge Vladimir Țurcan.

Contacted by IPN for a comment, Andrei Năstase said that he withdrew his application following the Constitutional Court’s judgment of April 23 by which Vladimir Țurcan was removed from the post of president of this Court. By that decision, acts similar to those invoked in the application to the SCM were given a legal appraisal.

The politician asked the Superior Council of Magistracy to institute disciplinary proceedings against Vladimir Țurcan, who was then president of the Constitutional Court. The application was filed after President Igor Dodon said that he had a telephone discussion with Vladimir Țurcan about the suspension of the law for which the Government assumed responsibility and the judge told him how the decision was voted. Later, the constitutional judges dismissed Țurcan as president and named Domnica Manole in his place.
