Applicants for Erasmus+ scholarship advised to communicate with program’s graduates

The young people who want to apply for an Erasmus+ scholarship should communicate with those who already went through such an experience so as to easier overcome some of the difficulties that can appear in the way, said Terentie Carp, coordinator of the project Moldovan International Education Fair (MIEF).

In a news conference at IPN, Terentie Carp stated that a number of difficulties were reported at the document preparation stage and solutions can be found easier when interacting with those who already went through this process. The Erasmus+ scholarships are intended both for bachelor’s and master’s degree studies and for summer schools.

The MIEF project coordinator also said that the number of those who choose to study abroad is on the rise. Many return home when they complete the studies, but this is not due to patriotism, but rather to the reduced possibilities of finding employment abroad and to the tougher requirements of the foreign employers.

Mariana Gurghis, who benefitted from an Erasmus scholarship to study in Spain, said she helped several persons to fill out the application form for the given scholarship. “Regretfully, the general public is not always able to get such a scholarship. A community of former Erasmus students should have been created to provide information about the completion of applications, etc. It is a disadvantage that the universities do not have sufficient specialists who would be able to answer all the questions of students concerning Erasmus,” she stated.

According to her, there is no standard image of the student who can get an Erasmus scholarship, but it is certain that the student must have a good academic standing, know a foreign language and be able to write a letter of intent and should also pay increased attention to civic responsibility and volunteering activities.

Universities from ten countries will present their offers at the second Moldovan International Education Fair that will take place at the restaurant “Casa Sarbatorii” in Chisinau on March 20 and 21. The universities will provide information about the tuition fees, financing possibilities, available programs and the admission process. At the EU’s stand, those interested will be able to receive information about the scholarship program Erasmus+.
