The Chisinau Appeals Court on December 17 will examine the lawyers’ appeal against the decision to extend the period for holding Vlad Filat in custody. The hearing starts at 1pm, IPN reports.

The lawyers challenge the December 10 decision of the Buiucani Court by which the period of arrest was extended for 30 days. The former Premier’s defense considers this decision is groundless and illegal.

“The proofs and risks invoked by the prosecution are based on the same statements made by witnesses whose integrity we question,” it is said in a press release of the law firm “Popa & Associates”.
