An apartment that is 300 square meters in area, owned by the family of former Democratic MP Nae Simion Pleșca, is to be sequestrated. The Chisinau City Appeals Court accepted the appeal filed by the National Integrity Authority (NIA) against the May 17 judgment of the Centru branch of the Chisinau City Court, quashing this way the decision of the first court in the NIA’s civil lawsuit against Nae-Simion Pleșca. The decision taken by the judges of the Appeals Court is irrevocable, IPN reports.
In a press release, NIA says that in December 2020, within a property inspection procedure, it determined that the former MP and his family have a substantial difference between the property acquired and the incomes gained while Nae Simion Pleșca held the seat of MP, in September 2015 – March 2019, in the amount of over 830,000 lei.
In this case, the integrity inspector decided in favor of the confiscation of the unjustified property and filed a denouncement to the Prosecutor General’s Office for taking legal action against unjust enrichment. If the NIA’s ascertaining document issued in December 2020 in the name of the ex-MP is upheld by the court and remains final, the unjustified property will be confiscated for the benefit of the state.
IPN contacted Nae Simion Pleșca by phone, but he was unavailable for comment.
