APP about to seize assets of Gările Auto Moderne SRL as company fights back

Representatives of the Agency for Public Property (APP) today appeared at the headquarters of Gările Auto Moderne SRL in a bid to forcibly seize the company’s assets, enforcing an order issued by APP director general on August 12.

Andrei Iosip, representative for Gările Auto Moderne, said the company learned about the order only this morning. The company, he added, wasn’t invited to participate in hearings preceding the order and wasn’t allowed time to challenge it.

“The order has been challenged 10 minutes ago. Here it is. It’s a petition for appeal and suspension. With such a petition to suspend enforcement, an order may be enforced only after the petition is resolved”, Iosip told APP representatives.

The APP agents requested a break as a result.

In 2018, the company won a 25-year lease for the public network of bus stations, pledging to rehabilitate 30 stations in 3 years. In August 2022, the government terminated the lease after finding that Gările Auto Moderne defaulted on its investment plan. The company was ordered to return all the assets in good condition, and by December 2022 the bus stations were supposed to be taken over by a public company. Meanwhile, the APP director resigned, and then his replacement resigned too, until the appointment of Roman Cojuhari, which continues to be the acting APP director.
