Apa-Canal Chisinau (ACC) utility will use, beginning on November 5, digital piping maps. The system will allow to evaluate the current state of drinking water and sewerage piping and to finalize the investment program, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a press release of the utility, the implementation of the Geographic Informational System (GIS) was a success thanks to the feasibility study carried out by Seureca Company’s French experts, alongside the utility’s specialists. This is a digital database of all the water supply and sewerage piping, with a web app that will include the geographic map of all the water piping in Chisinau managed by the utility. The app will register daily all the water leaks, either of aqueducts or sewage pipes, the exact address, the degree of damage, the cause, the repairs and the affected section. Moreover, this innovation will display the new pipes that are put into service, the old ones that are renovated and the capital repairs carried out by the utility’s employees. The map will also show the new piping that are taken under the company’s administration. About 20 operators will work on this daily. The piping GIS will allow to successfully monitor the registered failures and to remove them, which will reduce the water losses suffered by the utility. The systematic introduction of data will help analysts to provide a detailed analysis of piping that need urgent repairs, reads the ACC press release.
