“Apa-Canal Chisinau” to support extension of Chisinau-Straseni-Calarasi water main

SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” will support the project to extend the Chisinau-Straseni-Calarasi water main initiated by the Government of Germany, IPN reports, with reference to a press release of the water supplier.

The project “Improvement of Water Infrastructure in Central Moldova” has a budget of €16.5 million. The money is provided in the form of a grant by the Federal Government of Germany through the agency of the KfW Development Bank. The project implementation period is 2019-2024.

The project envisions the construction of a water main with the diameter of 300 – 1 000 mm that will supply drinking water from the Chisinau water supply system to the municipality of Straseni and to Calarasi, and the localities of the two districts will be subsequently connected to this.

The company’s administration is ready to support the project, but will be unable to be a component part of this as the contract to delegate the management of the public water supply and sewerage service signed by Chisinau municipality and SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” does not cover the localities of Calarasi and Straseni districts. Thus, the company will provide the water supply service up to the delimitation point of the water supply system. This will be the connection to the D-1000 mm water main located on Mircesti St in Chisinau.
