Apa-Canal Chisinau this year will invest 90 million lei in maintenance and extensive repair works on water pipes, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the water supplier, the rehabilitation of the water pipes on the streets Muncesti, Vasile Lupu and Burebista will be finished. The works were assessed at almost 15 million lei. A new disinfection technology will be implemented at the Wastewater Treatment Station, based on sodium hypochlorite. The water pumping station “Sculeni” will be reconstructed and reequipped. There will be repaired the water and sewer pipes on the streets that will be again asphalted as well as the damaged pipes, the electrical and technological equipment, and the pumping stations. The water meters in some apartment buildings will be changed. Apa-Canal Chisinau renovates by 3-4 pipes a month so as to ensure the consistent supply of drinking water and avoid accidents. Repair works on three water pipes were planned for January. The last works were completed on Podgoreni St in Riscani district. Last year, the water supplier repaired 31 km of water and sewer pipes from its own funds. The works cost 85 million lei. It also replaced over 2,000 water meters in apartment buildings and renovated 32 pumping stations.
