Apă-Canal Chisinau steps up inspections at consumers

The water supplier “Apă-Canal Chisinau” has announced that it will increase the number of field trips so as to identify irregularities committed by consumers, both private individuals and legal entities, as it identified cases of illegal connection to the municipal water supply and sewerage system, IPN reports.

The company also reiterated its call to business entities not to discharge wastewater  that does not meet the pollution norms into the public sewerage system. The higher than allowed pollutant concentrations can endanger the activity of the biological stage of the wastewater treatment station.

To avoid the suspension of contracts, all the consumers that provide production services should review the technological process and should not discharge substances that exceed the maximally allowed concentrations. If such situations are identified, fines will be imposed in accordance with the current legislation or the service can be even suspended.

“Apă-Canal Chisinau” notes that as a result of the surprise inspections carried out by its specialists this week, there were identified different violations related to the discharge of wastewater, including at least five unauthorized connections to public networks, primarily the sewerage system.

To anticipate illegalities, the consumers are asked to inform the company’s representatives about unauthorized connections to the public water supply and sewerage systems on the trust line 022-256-980 or through the email acc@acc.md.
