The administration “Apa-Canal Chisinau” took stock of the results achieved last year, mentioning among these the projects and contracts initiated within the Priority Investment Program that is financed with the loans provided by the EBRD and EIB and with €61.8 million worth or grants offered by the EU, IPN reports.
In a press release, the supplier said that last year its specialists managed to sign contracts for the rehabilitation of 140 km of water pipes and 7 km of sewer pipes. There were installed the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system and pumping and electrical equipment at pumping stations in Chisinau, which will reduce power consumption by 27%.
2017 was also the year when the “Polluter pays” principle was implemented. Now business entities pay differentiated tariffs, according to the pollution level of wastewater. The company’s administration said the methodology of calculating the differentiated tariff was improved together with business entities. The Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment is to pronounce so that the methodology takes effect this year.
There was also launched the municipal remote meter reading program. The first smart water meters were installed in 13 apartment buildings situated on Negresteni St. All the costs were covered by the supplier. It turned out that this is the most efficient method of reducing the difference between the volume of water measured by the common meter and the volume of water measured by individual apartment meters. The specialists of “Apa-Canal Chisinau” apply a number of methods and solutions to deal with this problem.
