The public utility SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” identified almost 200 violations committed by water consumers in the first quarter of this year. Over these, the company submitted 191 contravention reports to the administrative commission of the Rascani district head’s office, IPN reports.
According to SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau”, there were imposed fines of over 82,000 lei. A number of 43 cases were cases of unauthorized connections to the public water supply and sewerage networks, while 32 were cases of non-payment for the water supply and sewerage service during six consecutive months. The consumers were penalized with a fine of up to 1,000 lei or with up to 30 hours of community service.
Among other violations committed by consumers are the intentional damaging of the system of “Apa-Canal Chisinau”, violation of the rules concerning the protection areas of water supply and sewerage networks and unauthorized disconnection from the company’s system.
To recover the overdue payments for the water supply and sewerage service, “Apa-Canal Chisinau” sues those with debts. As a result of lawsuits, hundreds of consumers have their property, including bank accounts and cars and apartments, sequestrated.
