Apa-Canal Chisinau launches contest of essays

Fifth-eleventh graders from the municipality of Chisinau can take part in a contest of essays, short films and advertisements themed “Role of water in humans’ lives and in economy” that was launched by Apa-Canal Chisinau (ACC). The winners will receive money awards and diplomas. The top prize remains a surprise, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from ACC, the contest forms part of the educational project “Appreciating water, we appreciate life” and aims to teach the young generation how to behave towards the water sources For the participants in the contest to better realize the role and road of water, the company is staging the Open Doors Days during May 1 – 15. On this occasion, students of a number of Chisinau high schools will be able to visit the water supplier’s main facilities, including the water pumping station in Vadul lui Voda town, the wastewater treatment station and the water cleaning station in Chisinau. The students of the Chisinau lyceums “Ion Creanga” and “Gheorghe Asachi” were the first to pay visits. The students of “Mihai Eminescu” and “Mircea Eliade” high schools went on trips today, May 11. Specialists of Apa-Canal Chisinau said the students are told that the water from Nistru River needs to be cleaned, disinfected and treated for becoming fit to drink. The trips are organized with the aim of sensitizing the public opinion and explaining the technological water treatment processes. During May 15-25, the students can produce works on the role of water in the every day life and submit them to the head office of Apa-Canal Chisinau. Collective works will be also accepted. The events form part of the series of activities dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the foundation of Apa-Canal Chisinau SA, which will be celebrated on December 1-20.
