Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca says that “anyone who will attempt to take the municipal property will stand responsible in front of the law”. According to him, the municipal property will exist as long as there is no decision of the Chisinau Municipal Council on giving up the property. This was the answer of the Mayor following the request of Info-Prim Neo to comment on the intention of Veaceslav Iordan, the director of “Apele Moldovei” Agency, former interim mayor of Chisinau and candidate for Mayor on behalf of the Party of Communists, to take over the administration of Chisinau Wastewater Treatment Plant. However, the Mayor says that everything is possible in Moldova. “If in this case the law is violated, as it happened before, we all should think what kind of people are those who give such orders and put forward such proposals”. At the same time, Dorin Chirtoaca mentioned that major interests are involved in this case. “The projects that have been implemented lately cannot be financially covered and following which the City Hall got nothing more than bills. The Law says the process should be different. A similar situation was planned in the case of the Wastewater Treatment Plant and its worth mentioning that there should be invested about USD 200 mln, much more than the annual budget of the municipality of Chisinau. It is obvious that any activity becomes a business and interest in Moldova”, Dorin Chirtoaca emphasised. Also, the Mayor says that the present administration of the municipality intends to transparently and correctly implement public investments, refurbish the public areas and administrate the public money without favours or satisfying someone’s interests. Former interim mayor Veaceslav Iordan said in a an interview with the Chisinau-based newspaper “Economicesckoe Obozrenie” that he will make everything possible to transmit the administration of Chisinau Wastewater Treatment Plant to the Governmental Agency “Apele Moldovei”, which is headed by him at present.
