The district heads could be chosen not only from among district councilors. A legislative initiative to this effect was adopted by MPs in the first reading on July 20, IPN reports.
Sergiu Sarbu, one of the authors, said the bill is aimed at increasing the managerial capacities in districts. This enables any person to apply for the posts of district head and deputy head.
The procedure for choosing the district’s administration remains unchanged and will be held on the initiative of at least one third of councilors.
The bill authors consider that by such provisions the managerial capacities will be enhanced. The councilors will not be limited to choose candidates only from among local councilors, who are usually elected according to political criteria, and a professional manager could be selected to bring value added and maximum efficiency in the management of the district.
