Antiviral drug Tamiflu started to be used in Transnistria
The antiviral drug Tamiflu has been brought into Transnistria and is administered to patients infected with pandemic A (H1N1) flu. The epidemiological situation in the region remains stable though the number of new cases is on the rise.
The statement was made by Nataliei Shevchenko, of the local Hygiene and Epidemiology Center, Info-Prim Neo’s correspondent in Tiraspol reports.
Epidemiologists ask the population not to get into a panic. All the patients suffer from light or average forms of the disease that are not more dangerous than seasonal flu.
The Transnistrian ministry of health and social protection is monitoring the situation. In suspect cases, the samples are sent to Chisinau for confirmation, Natalia Shevchenko added.
She also said that the optimal temperature for reducing the risk of infection with pandemic flu is 20 degrees Celsius, with 57% humidity.
The population in Transnistrian started to be vaccinated against seasonal flu.
